- A Collection of Australian Music for Children. The collection is largely made up of songs, with some easy piano music. Many are charmingly illustrated, some by well-known Australian artists. The earliest work is a Cantata written for Arbour Day in 1891, and we have closed the collection at 1970. Other works date from the early 20C. Evocative Australian titles like Fun on the Beach, Mr. Roo, In the Bush, Jolly Bush Cobbers The Wallaby Mail, Percy Platypus, and Under the Coolibah, contrast with Tally Ho, The Alpine Yodeller and even Sicilian Dance. Most distinguished Australian composers have written for children, and so are represented in this fine collection. Much of the charm of the works lies in the cover and title illustrations. There are colour cover illustrations by famous Australian artists: Pixie O'Harris, May Gibbs, Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, and black and white illustrations by Norman Lindsay.
